About GramOwl
Free, evidence-based fiber calculators — built on established nutrition science, not fad diets.
What We Do
GramOwl builds simple tools that answer one question well: how much fiber should you eat, and how do you actually get there? Our calculators turn the Institute of Medicine / USDA guideline (14 g of fiber per 1,000 kcal) into a personalized daily target with practical, per-meal guidance.
Our Methodology
Every number our tools produce is traceable to a published source:
- Fiber targets: Institute of Medicine (National Academies) Adequate Intake and the USDA Dietary Guidelines for Americans — 14 g per 1,000 kcal.
- Calorie estimates: The Mifflin-St Jeor equation, the resting-metabolic-rate formula recommended by the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics.
- Food data: USDA FoodData Central.
The GramOwl team includes a founder with a formal background in nutrition science, and content is written against primary sources rather than copied from other websites.
